1. Registration

You register your child by phone or through our online services. A referral is usually not required; for children and adolescents with statutory health insurance, the insurance card is sufficient. When you register, we take down a few details about your concern and your child's age. You may then receive a medical-history form, which we ask you to complete and return before the appointment.

  2. What to bring with you

    • your child's health insurance card
    • the yellow child examination booklet (U-Heft)
    • any existing findings, doctors' letters and therapy reports (as copies)
    • current and earlier school reports or daycare (Kita) reports
    • a list of any medication currently taken
    • the completed medical-history form

If some documents are not available, that is not an obstacle. Where parental responsibility is shared, we require the written consent of both parents or legal guardians.

  3. The initial consultation (approx. 45–60 minutes)

Parents and child come to the initial consultation together. We take time to understand the concern, your child's development so far and the family situation. If helpful, we hold part of the conversation separately — younger children stay with you, while older adolescents have the option of speaking with us on their own for part of the time. At the end, we discuss the next steps together.

  4. Further diagnostic assessment (several appointments)

Depending on the question, further appointments follow: psychological testing (usually in the morning), a physical and developmental examination, and questionnaires. How many appointments are needed depends on your child's concern and is agreed with you. If we are to obtain information from school, your paediatrician or previous practitioners, we ask you for a release from confidentiality; without it we neither give nor obtain any information.

  5. Feedback and next steps

In a feedback meeting we explain the results to you and — in an age-appropriate way — to your child. Together we discuss whether and what kind of support makes sense: treatment in our practice or a referral (for example psychotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or a social-paediatric centre). On request and with your consent, we prepare reports, for example for school.

Our consultations are intended exclusively for patients with statutory health insurance.
